There isn't too much known about Sugisaki Yukiru, other than her few basics. Though stated by TokyoPop editors, she likes to look at her works closely, and reviews the translated editions to make sure that they flow as close to the original as possible. She cares much in how her works are produced for audiences outside of Japan.

It is known that she started off as a doujinshi artist, drawing shorts for popular series, such as Tenkuu no Escaflowne. In 1995, Sugisaki-sensei received her first chance to publish with a major company - she published a short manga that was a bonus comedy story in Asuka magazine (published by Kadokawa Shoten), by the name of Namaiki no N. A couple of years later, she again published a short comedy in Asuka, which ended up being her big break through - this short was none other than DNAngel. Around the same time, Sugisaki-sensei was working on another series, Megami Kouhosei with Wani Books. DNAngel became immensely popular, and in 1999, it gained a permanent slot in the monthly manga anthology.

Since her humble beginnings, Sugisaki-sensei has gained the respect and popularity of a successful manga-ka. Her credits include the one volume Rizelmine, the 5+ volume Megami Kouhosei, the 11+ volume DNAngel, the 3+ volume Lagoon Engine, the art for the 4 volume Brain Powerd, and Lagoon Engine Einsatz, a manga published in Newtype USA and now through graphic novels. She has mainly published through Kadokawa Shoten, with the exception of Megami Kouhosei. She currently continues to work on DNAngel and Lagoon Engine, which are both published in Asuka. Her works have gained fans throughout the world, as her manga has been published into many different languages. She has been an inspiration to us all, with her intriguing story telling and beautiful artwork.
